You really want a treatment that involves some form of exposure.

Dr. Peter Tuerk, Clinical Psychologist, shares advice for people who may be concerned about PTSD.

You really want a treatment that involves some form

of exposure because we know through many, many

years of research that exposure-oriented treatments are

wonderful for anxiety spectrum disorders, and there's a lot

of different anxieties out there

that exposure therapy works for.

We'd want a treatment that has some component of exposure.

We'd want a treatment that doesn't necessarily involve

too much coping because coping is another form of avoidance,

or it can be seen as another form of avoidance.

We want an intervention where you're going to feel

a little bit challenged because we're trying

to change the way you interact with the world,

and we don't really get to change

unless you get a little bit challenged.
