I ask constantly, "Are you OK?"
And even when he says he is, I know better.
I know when he's not.
I know when he hasn't taken his medication.
And I just reconfirm all the time,
"You know, no one will ever love you the way I love you.
No one will ever put up with the same shit
that I will put up with and what I've gone through with you.
So, you know, be nice."
It's just like playing with little kids.
You have to be nice.
There's a give and take, but with PTSD,
there's more triggers and more takes than there is gives.
And you just have to be patient.
