You have to rely on others who have experience with this to help you through it.

Chris Antonio (US Army, 1999 - 2007) talks about what PTSD treatment was like.

Transcript

Treatment, for me, was very confusing actually because

I wasn't aware of a lot of things that were going on around me

at the time because of the flashbacks.

They were sporadic, they would stop, then they would

come on really strong, so it was pretty intense there

for a while, I mean, you don't expect anything like that.

So when it happens, you have to rely on others

who have experience in this to help you through it,

and that's basically what I did.

I relied on my doctors and listened and took their advice

and followed their instructions to the letter

in hopes of getting better and resuming a normal life.
