We got mortared a lot over there

and you'd hear a boom in a distance.

Even now, I'm analyzing it.

I count because on the base when you heard the boom,

you would count six or eight, usually the impact.

If they're shooting at us, they're gonna land

in our area where we're at.

If they're not shooting

at us then it's gonna impact somewhere else.

You're traveling from where you sleep to where you eat

and the last thing you want to worry

about is somebody taking a shot at you.

So you hear a boom, it's in the distance.

I live out in the country so people shoot all kinds of stuff

and you find yourself some place else.

You find yourself counting.

Why am I counting back home?

It's ridiculous.

But you do it anyway.
