You can walk in and talk to another Veteran who's trained in the ways of recovery.

Jon Caito (US Army, 2001-2012) explains how Veterans can talk to a peer specialist at VA who's been through similar challenges.

There's always the

option of going to your local VA

and asking for the peer

specialist.

You can walk in and talk

to another veteran who's trained

in the ways of recovery

and serves as a role model.

Because veterans

are more comfortable

talking to other veterans,

and a lot of veterans don't

know that the VA hires peer

specialists and people like me

to help be kind of a roadmap

for recovery.

That way, you know,

you're not doing this alone,

which is a big problem

for a lot of us.

Because you're not alone.

Even though as much as I thought

I was, I realized I'm not.

And that's helped out so much,

so much

just knowing that

there's other people out there

who suffer the same way you are.

It makes you realize that you're

not the big failure.

You're

not the big disappointment.
