You can figure out if you're looking at it correctly.

Richard Sell (US Air Force, 1958 - 1967) talks about what PTSD treatment was like.

Transcript

On the typical day with a therapist, one-on-one,

he would say, "Well, how was the last week,

and did you have problems that you encountered,

and have we taught you how to handle those problems?"

And they had handouts that we had each week,

both on the weekly lesson and in general

how to work on these problems,

and we would go over that handout sheet.

The first part of the sheet was seeing what the problem was.

Actually determining what your problem is

is one of the hardest things there is to do.

And then you can figure out if you're looking at it correctly

or if you're biased for some reason

and you're looking at it incorrectly.

And then you write down how you felt about it,

and then how you're going to handle that problem,

and what your feelings are about it

now that you've written these things out.

A lot of it is about writing.

We had written assignments every week.
