The work is hard, but the work is worth it.

Richard Braley (US Marine Corps, 1967 - 1970) talks about what PTSD treatment was like.

Therapy is as hard as you make it.

I find that I deal with situations sometimes

in a lighter way than other people might.

So when I would go into my sessions,

we'd have couple laughs but we'd get the job done.

We'd concentrate on the issues.

Worked out to be the hardest was the, working on my nightmares

and my inability to sleep through the night.

Those were the things that I fought to the very end not

to work on because of what it would mean.

It would mean drawing those back out from memory

to actually talking about them.

And because of that, we fought it to the end

but we finally attacked it.

And that opened so many doors of, how would you say, help,

that it really took on a life of its own.

So yes, the work is hard, but the work is worth it.
