Why can't I just do this myself?

Dr. Ebony Butler, Clinical Psychologist, answers common questions about PTSD.

Sometimes it's really difficult for us to disclose

to other people that we are experiencing things

that we can't control or that we can't fix.

So there are times when we've tried to fix them

and it just doesn't work, and the fact of the matter is

that if you could fix it, that it would work by now,

and you wouldn't be dealing with the things

that you're dealing with.

So it would be good to go in and get a different perspective

on what's going on with you and actually talk to somebody

who's been trained to deal with the things that you're

experiencing and get a fresh perspective and learn

some different skills to deal with what you're dealing with

or what's going on with you.
