[When] the symptoms that they are experiencing is having a big impact.

Dr. Edward MacPhee, Psychiatrist, explains how to know if you're ready to get help for PTSD.

Transcript

I would say that the time when a person

would know that they're ready for treatment is when

they recognize that they can't do it on their own,

that the symptoms that they are experiencing

is having a big impact on themselves,

the people around them, their loved ones,

and whatever they have tried to do has not worked.

And I think it's very important at that point

for the person to say, "I can't do this on my own,"

and that "I need to reach out to somebody

to get the help that I need and I deserve."
