When Jim has nightmares...it is not scary for me because I know what's happening.

Florence Vaught, Wife of a Veteran with PTSD, talks about the signs of PTSD that she saw.

Transcript

When Jim has nightmares, I'm a light sleeper,

and generally, he's tossing and turning in the bed,

so I know it's coming.

And I will speak to him and say, "I think you're dreaming,"

and then he will start thrashing more and talking.

And then I start physically touching him and saying,

"This is a dream, wake up, wake up,"

because I don't think he's resting.

And he will get up, move around a little bit,

come back to bed, and sleep OK.

So it is not scary for me because I know what's happening.
