The biggest thing I can say is,

recovery or a life

without substance

abuse is a life of freedom.

Because when I stop

using substances is when I

literally got my freedom back.

And I don't mean

just from incarceration,

I mean in my own mind,

because when I was abusing

substances, that's

the only thing I cared about.

I didn't care

about anything else

except where's my next eight

ball of cocaine coming from?

And that's not a life.

Now I have choices.

Now I can feel free to do

things that I actually enjoy.

And it makes

the world of difference.
