I think a very interesting question and important question is,
"If I've been under treatment for a long time
and that treatment is working, should I go back
and be re-evaluated and try another treatment?"
We have a saying in New England, which is,
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it," and I'm a
devout believer in that saying.
If you have had maximum benefit for medication and whatever
other treatments you're getting, if I was your doctor,
I would be more than happy to continue that.
On the other hand, if there is room for improvement,
if you're better but not as good as you'd like to be,
then it's certainly worth considering whether
another course of treatment or another combination
of medication and therapy would be more beneficial.
That's an issue for you to discuss with your clinician,
and it's an important question, and it's a good one.
