What if I have bad feelings about VA?

Dr. Steven Thorp, Clinical Psychologist, answers common questions about PTSD.

Transcript

Some of the Veterans that I've worked with

who have avoided coming into the VA for years

have done so for a variety of reasons.

Some people who came into the VA in the late '70s

or the early '80s didn't have a good experience at the VA.

And that could be because we hadn't really established

what PTSD was at that point, and we certainly hadn't

developed really good treatments at that point for PTSD.

So some people who have avoided for all of these years

have since come in and have had

a really good experience at the VA.

And so I'm pleased to say that we've had many people

who have had a different attitude

once they've experienced treatment here.
