What if I can't bring myself to say what happened?

Dr. Carolyn Allard, Clinical Psychologist, answers common questions about PTSD.

Transcript

In a lot of cases, people have put off

seeking services because they may have believed that

there was no good treatment, or they may have

felt some shame or have been put off by the stigma

associated with their experiences.

Military sexual trauma is not something

that's easy to talk about, but we do have a whole host of

services available for survivors of military sexual trauma,

including very effective treatments for PTSD.

And the good news, in addition to all that,

is that it doesn't matter how long you've had PTSD.

The treatments are just as effective if you've had PTSD for

two years, versus 10 years, versus 40 years, and so on.
