So what is Cognitive Processing Therapy?
This is a type of treatment that really is going to look
at your thoughts and beliefs
and how those are affecting your life,
how those are affecting the way you feel,
and then your behavior.
We know that people who've gone through some sort of trauma,
they tend to have certain beliefs about the world,
about themselves, and about other people,
especially around the areas of safety, trust.
For example, "I can't trust anybody anymore."
"The world is unsafe."
And we'll take a look at which types of thoughts that you have
and see how those are affecting your mood.
If you think the world is unsafe,
you're likely going to feel fearful.
And then if we can modify this belief,
if it's not completely accurate,
can we help you to feel less fear in the world?
