When you come into treatment, one of the things
that we want to do is sit down with you
and have a conversation about what is important to you.
What are the things that you're hoping to gain from treatment?
What are the things that you're hoping
to be different once treatment is over?
What are the things that you want to target,
and what are your goals?
That's what we want to know, and we want to really get
a good picture of that so we can know how
to better work with you in treatment.
So for instance, if your goal is to simply be able to watch TV
with your family and be comfortable with that,
we can work on that in treatment.
If one of your goals is to be able to read a book
that contains some type of traumatic storyline,
we want to be able to help you with that.
If one of your goals is to simply be able to walk
in the park with your dog at 6 pm,
we can work on things as specific as that.
One of your goals may be you want to spend more time
with your children and instead of standing outside
of the fence at your child's soccer practice, you want
to be able to stand inside, we can work on that.
Those are the types of things that we can work on.
We want to be sure to get your goals and what's realistic
for your life so that we can help you to be most successful.
