If we're speaking about facing our fears
out in the real world, what we like to call "in vivo" exposures,
what we would do is help them make a list
of things that they've been avoiding.
And on this list would be typical things
that people do normally, such as shopping
or going to the dry cleaners,
but then also fun things that maybe they've been avoiding,
like going out dancing or going to the park,
and then maybe some things that they avoid in their house
because it reminds them of combat, such as the nightly news
or newspapers, shows with blood on it, things like that.
