Part of Exposure therapy homework is actually that we
record the session, and the homework is listening to it
and just kind of closing out the world
and concentrating on that memory as if you're re-living it.
Because the idea is to let your body physically react
to the memory as if you were really there
and recounting it and re-living it so that you can
let the adrenaline surge and let your body react
and then come back down off of it so that you,
you're not living at that elevated state of anxiety anymore,
that you can, like a roller coaster, reach the peak
and then come back down, and everything will be OK, and
you'll be on solid ground, and your feet are firmly planted.
