One thing I tell Veterans that I work with, and it might sound

a little cheeky, but it's true, is that if you're going to

have PTSD, if you're ever going to have PTSD,

now is a good time to have it

because we have really effective treatments for PTSD.

So it's a good news, bad news.

You have PTSD is the bad news.

The good news is we can treat it,

and we can treat it effectively.

It's no longer the case that

you just have to learn to cope with the symptoms.

We have very substantial and effective resources at the VA.

Evidence-based treatment means that we have

used this treatment on thousands and thousands of Veterans,

and they're very effective in that most of the time,

people who undergo these treatments are treated effectively,

they no longer have PTSD by the end of the treatment.
