Veterans like you...don't have to be on guard all the time.

Dr. Steven Thorp (Clinical Psychologist) explains how PTSD treatment can improve your life.

One symptom that you might experience

if you have PTSD is this feeling of

being on guard all the time.

And I can tell you, many of the Veterans

that come in my clinic have that feeling,

and that's problematic for a lot of reasons.

It takes a lot of energy to be on guard all the time,

it's a lot of work.

And so one of the nice things for me is

over the course of treatment, I see Veterans like you

who come in, and they are able to let go of

some of that being on guard.

Many of these Veterans are concerned that they're going to

lose that ability altogether and that they'll be vulnerable.

And I can tell you that they're still able to retain that,

but they don't have to be on guard all the time.

They can walk into a store and not scan for exits.

They can walk into a room and not check out everybody

in the room as a threat.

So that's a really satisfying outcome for these Veterans

who come in for the first time.
