What happened was
I sent the VA an email.
They responded,
and they said that
they would send somebody
out to give me an assessment.
You know,
but nothing happens right away.
But the VA did come out
and they gave me an assessment.
And after talking
with the person for a while,
she immediately
said, yes, you very much so
need inpatient, inpatient rehab.
Yeah. So...
They told me, and they
talked to the judge, and
they got the judge
to let me turn my plea
of not guilty to treatment
in lieu of conviction.
The VA literally saved my life.
The only two stops left for
me were death and prison.
And the VA made sure that
I had options.
It was just up to me to
put in the work.
