Typically the first session is an assessment session.

Dr. Carolyn Allard (Clinical Psychologist) describes PTSD treatment.

Transcript

Typically, the first session is not really

a treatment session, it's an assessment session

where you get to know the provider, they get to know you,

get a good idea of what's going on for you, what are you not

engaging in anymore, how your life has changed, and how you

would like your life to change if the PTSD was treated.

And you get to learn more about the treatment

and what it's like and what it's going to be like

so that you know what you're potentially getting into.
