Treatment will do different things for different people.

Dr. Karen Kattar (Clinical Psychologist) explains how PTSD treatment can improve your life.

Transcript

Treatment will do different things for different people.

It depends on what someone's goals are.

Sometimes people come in and the first thing that they say

is that "I'm not sleeping well" or, "I'm not getting

along with other people," "I'm about to lose my job."

And that might be what they bring into the office

the first time they come in, not even realizing

that it's about trauma.

And so treatment helps people to reach goals of

getting along with people again, maybe sleeping better,

maybe not turning to alcohol and drugs.

Those kinds of things treatment will help.

So we try to be really concrete about,

what do you do you see as a problem in your life,

and how would you like to see that changed?

That's what we work on.
