Dr. Ebony Butler (Clinical Psychologist) explains how PTSD treatment can improve your life.

The treatment really works,

and I've seen it work again and again.

For instance, there was this Veteran who had a hard time

sitting at restaurants with his back being exposed

to the rest of the patrons in the restaurant.

So whenever he would go with his wife or with his family,

he would have to sit near the nearest exit, he would have to

sit with his back against the wall, and he would have to sit

where he could see the entire restaurant.

So by the end of treatment, as we worked with him,

he was able to sit in the middle of the restaurant

with his back turned to everyone in the restaurant

and enjoy his family dinner.

He was more engaged with his wife, he was more engaged

with his children, not only could he eat in restaurants,

he was able to go to the movie theaters,

something that he wasn't able to do before.

By engaging in PE, he was able to confront a lot of these

situations that he's avoided, and he got his life back.

He got back in control of the things

that he had previously lost control of.
