The treatment helped me a lot with regaining the control.

Daniel Hamel Jr. (US Army, 1976 - 2007) talks about how PTSD treatment can help.

Transcript

The treatment helped me a lot with regaining the control

because I was overlooking a lot of stuff.

And because when I would get so frustrated or angry or anything,

I wouldn't see what was actually there.

I was just seeing what I wanted to see at that point in time.

And a lot of times when the anger or the frustration

or the flashbacks or the dreams or any of that come into play,

you don't see the actual picture and that's

where a lot of us lose focus.

I don't get as angry as easily.

I don't push myself away from people as much.

I'm actually more sociable to the point

to where I'm even District Commander for the VFW now,

the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

And that also helps me realize that I have,

I do still have a place in this world to help better people.
