Treatment is designed to help process those memories and emotions appropriately.

James Jones (Social Worker) explains how PTSD treatment can improve your life.

Transcript

When someone is traumatized,

oftentimes they get stuck in that moment.

We've found that part of the brain actually disconnects,

and they're no longer able to process thoughts

and emotions appropriately, so all those thoughts

and emotions tend to stay in the past, and they live kind of

out of that place, and it affects their whole life.

So treatment is designed to help them process those memories

and emotions appropriately so that they can move forward

in their life rather than be stuck in the past

and in all that pain.
