Think about therapy as a progressive, gradual way to get back into your life.

Dr. Karen Kattar, Clinical Psychologist, shares advice for people who may be concerned about PTSD.

Transcript

People with trauma tend to have their worlds get really small,

and they isolate a lot.

That's very understandable, and in the short term, that feels

good, like right now on the couch in you're home all alone,

it might feel great, but in the long run,

most people say that they're really sad and unhappy,

and they wish they could get back in their life again.

So think about therapy as a progressive, gradual way

to get back into your life -- you're not going to be

shot out of a cannon right into the therapy.

You'll have a few sessions where you get to know your

therapist and get to ease into what the therapy looks like.

In the end, it can be really powerful

and really change your life.
