The thing that was most
difficult about doing EMDR

is putting yourself back
in that same scenario.

And for me, that scenario
was when I got shot,

I had to go back to that every two weeks.

And remember that, the feelings,
the sounds, the smells,

the pavement, the pavement being so hot,

I had to put myself back in that situation

in order to eventually take out the sniper

that ended up shooting me.

It was difficult when I would come home

because sometimes those feelings

and those memories last
longer than a therapy session.

So a 60 minute EMDR session

may result in two days of trauma for me,

two days of remembering June 17th, 2007,

when I got shot by that sniper.

But over time, things
eventually got better for me.
