Particularly confusing, I would say, you know, there were
some Christmas mornings that he was there
and then, you'd walk back in the room and he was not there,
and his car was not in the driveway any longer.
Just, you know, important days, birthdays, that kind of stuff,
never quite knew if he was going to be around,
if he was going to be there, where he might end up.
It certainly happened that there would be a week or two
that would go by, and the question would come up,
"Where is your father, where is my father?"
And the answer would be some very far flung place:
Texas, or Alaska, or we don't really know.
Which is, you know, trying to find some bit of stability
is pretty difficult when you don't know where someone is.
