There was always alcohol...they kind of enable you.

Lee Norris, US Air Force 1993 - 2010, talks about how he knew he had PTSD.

Transcript

When I first joined, the mentality was that of a family,

and at every family gathering, there was always alcohol,

which had been provided by your supervisors

and your commanders and things like that,

and so that was kind of the introduction, to me.

And then after that, it flows freely everywhere,

and it's not necessarily frowned upon by most people,

and seeing people in a drunken stupor and things like that

in the military is somewhat acceptable, people don't

really look down on you for it, I don't guess.

They enable you to do this, is I guess what I'm trying to say

is they kind of enable you, and as long as you can

show up for work, do your job, and stay out of trouble,

they don't care what else you do, for the most part.
