Therapy isn't for erasing your memories.

Dr. Rebecca Liu (Clinical Psychologist) describes PTSD treatment.

Transcript

So overall, PTSD therapy helps change your relationship

with the trauma.

Therapy isn't for erasing your memories,

and it's natural to have feelings about what happened,

maybe for the rest of your life.

But what therapy helps with is,

takes the trauma and the symptoms and helps shift them

from the foreground to the background of your life

so that you're more in control again and that you can

basically integrate what happened into who you are today

and that you can take steps from there

to do the things that matter the most to you

to really live the life that you want to live.
