Something that helped me a lot with my emotions
and how to help Josh, was talking to
his doctor, Jennifer Romesser, up at the VA.
She was incredible.
I called her all the time with questions
because sometimes with PTSD, you wonder,
"OK, is my husband just being irritable and mean today,
or is he having PTSD today, and he can't control it?"
And she would often help me to draw the line
so that I would know better how to handle that situation.
And I would give her details of the types of
way he was acting or the things he said,
and she would talk me through it to help me to understand,
OK, this is why he's saying that
or doing these things he's doing.
And she would just let me know
which kind of behavior was normal,
which might not be appropriate
that she could work with him on.
And so she really helped me a lot.
I think she was instrumental
in saving our marriage and my sanity.
