She understood my pain.

Jennifer S. Norris (US Air Force, 1996 - 2010) talks about what PTSD treatment was like.

I found, when I was looking for a job, I found a card for a

Military Sexual Trauma Coordinator

in a resume book, and I about lost it

because I saw "Military Sexual Trauma Counselor,"

and I was like, "There's a name for it.

Oh my God, there's a name for this."

And I called them right up, and she was my lifeline.

She got me right in.

And she'd also been in the same career field as me,

so she understood my pain.

I couldn't have asked for a better person

at that time in my life.

I'll never forget her, thank you.

And she was out in Washington State, too.

I had moved out west with my husband, and I fell apart

because I had left the comfort of my home,

where I felt safe, and my whole world fell apart.

Being in a relationship, being out of my comfort zone,

I fell apart, and I turned to the VA,

and they totally helped me out.
