At first, that racism and racial tension

that I encountered, the trauma

did increase my symptoms as far as rage,

anger, discontentment, frustration.

And I know for many
years I was a loaded gun.

I was mad with myself

and that helped me
continue a vicious cycle,

beating myself up.

You should have done this.
You could have done that.

And then, oh Lord, if you could
get your hands on somebody.

And all those things started coming.

So, I was really thankful

that I did the CPT
training therapy at the VA.

And that was like a
pressure valve releaser

and that relieved a lot of tension.
