PTSD is a stress disorder.

Barbara Bonney, Advanced Practice Mental Health Nurse, explains what PTSD is.

Transcript

PTSD is

a stress disorder

that people

are struggling to make their way through their days.

They find that they are startled by things

that would not normally have startled them.

They're not able to enjoy things that they used to enjoy.

They struggle with anxiety throughout their days.

They've lost pleasure in things they used to enjoy.

Somebody dropped something and they just jump.

They just find themselves overwhelmed and struggling.

They have memories and nightmares that just

overwhelm them.

I guess it's - what I find is just people can't make their way

through the day in the way that they used to.
