it can be defined by symptoms that people have

in response to a life-threatening event.

These symptoms can include things like being on guard

all the time, being weary of their surroundings,

having bad dreams or flashbacks about what happened,

and having trouble sleeping.

PTSD is very serious, and it can cause

functional impairment, which means people having trouble

going to work, having friendships,

going to family gatherings, things like that.
