A couple of years after my deployment,
I was interacting with family members
on a Saturday morning, I think, in my kitchen.
And I believe manifesting the symptoms
of a TIA or a mini stroke,
interacted with a doctor and immediately I got some care.
As a result of
the medical intervention at Dartmouth-Hitchcock,
I had some cardiovascular,
neurological,
psychological evaluations,
a whole bunch of stuff.
The psychological evaluations...
and I'm grateful for the care I received
at DHMC and ultimately the VA in White River.
The psychologist who is my, who was
treating me
said, "You know, you have PTSD,"
and we explored that together and that was my first
glimpse into the realm of PTSD and treatment for it.
