Sometimes I can see where people would be intimidated,

where Veterans would be intimidated

coming to the VA because of the paperwork.

The paperwork is so daunting, and trying to remember

the details why you feel like you do, going through

all of that stuff, if you will, is not an easy thing to do.

And it would generally generate more anxiety in me,

and I am pretty confident that it does for most people.

It doesn't help, either, that there are occasional

newspaper reports about people who are having difficulty

getting appointments or getting into the VA.

I learned after I went through the process myself,

with help from the VA, that that's just not true,

that you can get help, that there are many, many people who

work on that paperwork just by itself, and they want to help.

So, that was a part of staying away, for me.
