When I was in the military, I had 10 of my friends killed.
The sad part is since I've been out, I've had three
of them commit suicide.
And so, I look back on what we could have done different,
and all of those individuals were the ones
that didn't go out and seek help.
They didn't go out seek counseling.
They didn't go out and try to figure out,
"Is there something more to this anger that I'm feeling?
Is there something more to this depression that I'm feeling?"
They didn't go out and do that.
That the only way to prevent it really and to show people
that suicide is not an option is to take them to treatment.
Even if they only use it one time, if they pick
up that one technique or that one skill that helps them
through it, it's worth it.
It's totally worth it.
