One of the coping
skills I learned was to

stop myself.

And that was probably
one of the hardest things

to manage my anger.

Just that one moment where
you can control your anger

so that you can make a
decision to take a

different path

rather than going down
the same old road

and winding up with the
same old result.

Mostly deep
breathing skills

and those are
usually accompanied

by some type of
relaxation thought,

trying to associate a
thought with a deep

breathing skill.

It has a tendency to
slow the heartbeat

and reduce the anxiety

and those are both
critical elements

of subduing a situation.
