[My wife] urged me to go get some treatment.

Eddie Hoffman, US Marine Corps, 2001 - 2010, talks about when he knew he needed to get help for PTSD.

Transcript

My wife, when she was
my girlfriend,

she had gone online and
actually looked

the symptoms that I
was having and

basically diagnosed me
with PTSD herself

or thought, told me
that based on

what she was
hearing and what my

senior Marines were
telling me,

she thought that it
might be PTSD.

And she kind of
understood a lot more

about it than I did
at the time

and she urged me to go
get some treatment

and she actually was
probably the reason I

took it serious.

And she once told me that,
you know,

going through everything
you've been through,

if you didn't have a
problem she'd be more

worried about me

and so that I knew
she would be

supportive of me
in treatment.

So, she really with the
urging of my

senior Marines,

and her urging and being
supportive that

really pushed me
towards taking

or at least getting
into treatment.
