(somber piano music)
[Rodriguez] I can tell you
that at the highest point
of my post-traumatic
stress disorder symptoms,
I was having a nightmare
one to two times a week.
I wasn't sleeping well, I
was pacing around the house
quite a few nights for two
or three hours at a time.
My personality changed.
(lighthearted piano music)
I am happier having
gone through therapy
and worked to get better.
Once I was able to work
through the anxiety,
I was able to sleep better.
(mumbling)
When you sleep better,
you feel better.
You wake up more
brisk, more sharp.
[Daughter] And his tongue!
I could see his tongue in
commercials.
- Monday you start
Kirkwood soccer.
[Rodgriguez] My children
have noticed
and they've said that,
"You're more calm now.
"You yell less.
"You laugh more now than you
did when you first got home."
Okay, we'll see.
[Daughter] She's like
alright Great Gatsby?
(claps)
50, uh pop quiz.
I was like, "okay."
[Rodriguez] The new me is more
relaxed and more calm.
I think I'm more open
to other points of view.
(mumbled conversation)
I'm more functional and
happier with myself.
Having been in therapy period,
has helped me be in
a better place now.
