My name is Will Florez.
I had the privilege of
wearing the Coast Guard uniform
for 20 plus years.
I was operational on
five Coast Guard Cutters,
doing a total of
14 years at sea.
I had the privilege
of doing small boat stations
and air stations,
so I did just about the gamut
of the missions, the tasks
that 11 statutory missions
the United States
Coast Guard has to accomplish.
The unofficial
motto of the Coast Guard is
so others may live.
It was something
that I took seriously.
It was something that
the people that I work with
through my 20 plus years
of service took seriously.
We would do anything
we needed to do
to affect that rescue,
to rescue that mariner
in distress, to ensure
that those folks were safe.
