My husband has nightmares...

Vanessa Jones, Wife of a Veteran with PTSD, talks about the signs of PTSD that she saw.

Transcript

When my husband has nightmares,

most of the time I'm pretty much out.

You can't really wake me up, but there are times

when he's definitely done that by grabbing on to me,

just making sure that, I guess, things are real,

like right after he wakes up, and it's weird, you know,

feeling that in the middle of the night.

You just want him to be OK and not go through this.

I don't necessarily do anything when he has a nightmare

other than just try to also cuddle him at the same time,

just let him know that I'm there.

If he wants to tell me, he can, usually he does --

not into specifics but it seems to be

pretty much the same thing with the scent and,

he has all sorts of, like, the scents going on and the heat,

and everything just seems so realistic to him.

I mean, I can't imagine.

And I just try to bring him back down if possible.
