My homework was to go into the Walmart.

Arthur Jefferson (US Army, 1978 - 1998) talks about what PTSD treatment was like.

Transcript

My therapist gave me homework, and my homework was

to go into the Walmart and stay in there for 30 minutes.

Walk around, familiarize yourself in the store.

And part of the homework that my therapist would give me was

also to listen to the tape as many times, two or three times.

And if my appointment was on a Monday,

the next appointment would be on a Monday.

So during that six- to seven-day window,

try to listen to the tape at least four or five times.

Go into Walmart, stay in there for

20, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, walk around.

Go into the mall, where it's always crowded at,

and just try to spend at least 45 minutes to an hour

within the mall itself.

And it helped.
