The biggest thing that PTSD did to my family is
they became scared of me.
That's probably what I was most scared of, is having my
family, most of all, think that I was in some way dangerous.
My dad got himself cut, he dropped a knife and it stabbed him.
And I had Combat Lifesaver training, so I patch him up,
and he thinks it's hilarious for when my mom gets home
to tell her that I had stabbed him.
And I thought it was going to be funny, I thought.
And then my mom goes, "I knew it, I thought so.
Something, something's not right, right?
Something's wrong."
And I'm in the next room.
I run in, I'm like, "What's the matter with you?
I didn't do this, of course not.
How could you possibly think that
I would have anything to do with this?"
It's like, "Well, you're just under a lot of stress
since you've been back, you know?
You're the same as you were in the Army,
and you've been back for years now, what's going on?"
