My experience is the best treatment for PTSD is individual Prolonged Exposure.

Dr. Matthew Yoder (Clinical Psychologist) describes PTSD treatment.

Sometimes I get the question of,

"What's the best way to treat PTSD?"

And my experience is the best treatment for PTSD

is individual Prolonged Exposure.

There are other options -- individual CPT

has also been shown to be really effective --

but sometimes people have questions about group therapies

for PTSD, and my experience is that group therapies

can help with a lot of things.

A group can help patients feel connected to others,

can help educate, they can help people understand

that there are others out there with the same

kind of problems that they have.

But our experience is that group therapies,

as they've been tested, really haven't been shown to be as

effective against posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms

as individual therapies.

And so the evidence or the sort of scientific testing

that has been done has shown that

the best, most effective, powerful treatments

for PTSD are individual therapies.
