The medication brought about help for me.

Wanda Pegues (US Army, 2003 - 2005) talks about what PTSD treatment was like.

Transcript

I was placed on medication and I had a real hard time

with medication but I knew I needed something

to balance what was going on in my head, in my mind,

in my spirit and I had to go back

because the medication was stronger

and it made me just not be able to function.

So I went back couple of days and they lowered my dosage

but it allowed me to get a balance that I could deal with.

I did not want to be addicted to a drug.

I did not want to be.

I just wanted some help.

So the medication brought about help for me.

And that was in 2007 and after a period, I was able to pull

up off the medication and I think I was given

like three medications: a sleeping medication,

antidepressant, and for my joint pain medication.

And I now have one medication and I am grateful

for the medication and it wasn't addictive to me.

And I will go in and get my checks for my, I was concerned

about what it was doing to my body.

And once I found that balance for me, I'm grateful.
