The challenges with my marriage were the trust.
When you don't feel like you could trust somebody,
you can't open up to them.
You can't express yourself.
When you're not expressing yourself, all they're getting
on the other side is the anger, the distrust, the hate.
How are they supposed to access their emotions and comfort you
when they're feeling pushed away?
With my son, oh boy, this is, I mean,
this is something five years later that's still in the works.
PTSD really breaks down someone at such a young age
because the love is there for the family,
but with PTSD it's hard to feel it.
It's hard to feel the excitement, the joy
and every part of that.
And there's so many moments, you know, in my son's life
that I want to connect with, but I can't.
But again through the treatments,
and through being open and honest about who I am
and starting to feel comfortable with myself, I'm starting
to live and feel all those emotions with my family.
