Children laughing was a big deal for me,
because it reminded me, when we were on patrol,
you would always have the children
run out of the areas that they were in
asking the soldiers and marines for things.
And it would remind me
of the experience of being overseas, in country.
What it made me avoid was, personally,
my children.
When I hear them laughing loud,
when I hear them talking loud,
loud noises, let me just put it that way.
Loud noises from children laughing,
I would automatically, now I'm back in Iraq.
Just on the strength of hearing, not just my children,
but children period, playing.
So that was an automatic reminder,
"Ok, now you're back in it."
